About Pulling For The Hungry
Pulling For The Hungry was founded in 2009, after Conor Kelly, a top personal trainer in Toronto, heard about the student hunger problem plaguing Toronto schools.
The statistics are scary: In 2007, nearly half of Toronto's students went to class hungry. 1 in 3 children in the city live in poverty. Pulling For The Hungry is a fundraising initiative to raise money for causes that fight student hunger.
The first Pulling For The Hungry event, taking place on October 10, 2009, will benefit the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, which is the official charity of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
About The Toronto Foundation for Student Success
The Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) provides health and wellness programs for students in Toronto schools. These programs involve nutrition and hunger, hearing and vision, character development and mentoring, and child care. The Feeding Our Future program provides children with nutritional meals before classes, helping them get the best start possible.
